Laura Summer makes unconventional jewelry and small treasure boxes. The range of color and malleability of polymer allow her to create pieces that evolve as she canes, slices, layers, makes veneers, uses marquetry, adds texture, rolls, folds or smooths the work. After curing, the final product may differ from the original concept, but it works! Summer appreciates the serenity and satisfaction that comes with the artistic process as she solves problems, builds skills, and produces a collection of vibrant, fanciful creations that are bold but lightweight, durable, and easy to wear.

Her jewelry has been well received at local shows and at juried events sponsored by galleries and groups such as the Creative Crafts Council, the McLean Project for the Arts, the James Renwick Alliance, Glen Echo Partnership for Arts & Culture, and in the Phillips Collection gift shop in Washington, DC.
