Karen Philipps

Karen Philipps has always enjoyed hand work and has knit more sweaters and skirts than she needs. A few years ago, she decided it was time for a new project, and she made a bracelet from vintage clip-on earrings. This one-time project turned into an obsession. She made more and more bracelets and then expanded to making barrettes, pendants, and earrings. She loves combining her passions for crafting and antiquing/thrifting. She treasure hunts for clip-on earrings wherever she goes and has found earrings in Massachusetts, Vermont, and right here in Maryland. At home, she enjoys taking the earrings apart, smoothing the rough edges, and repurposing them in interesting and eye-catching designs. She is now selling her creations under the name ReJEWELvenate.

Karen is the mother of two young women and is a retired middle school English teacher. She currently is a tutor and lives in Bethesda with her husband and cat.
