Becky Snider

Becky L. Snider grew up in Houston, TX and began painting with her mother at a young age. She received a BA from Mills College in Oakland, CA, where she double-majored in Studio Art and Dramatic Art. She followed her undergraduate degree with an MFA in Theatre Technology from the UT-Austin. After working as a technical director for Houston Grand Opera, Portland Opera, and Stephens College, Snider made a career change. She studied Environmental Design and Historic Preservation and received a Ph.D. from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Snider operated her own historic preservation consulting firm for more than 10 years while also renovating and building houses. After moving to Maryland in 2009, Snider continued her renovation work and began taking classes in glass fusing. Snider is a member of Maryland Federation of Art, Montgomery Art Association, Ch/Art, and is a Board member and past President of the National Capital Art Glass Guild. She lives in Silver Spring with her wife, Karen, and their three dogs and one cat.
