JB Lallement

JB Lallement (b. 1974, France) makes paintings and mixed-media works that navigate the edge between structure and spontaneity. His practice is built on slow accumulation—deliberate layers of gesture, material, and time that resist resolution until something unexpected emerges.

By training, JB is a design architect based in the Washington, DC area. That discipline is legible in his work: a felt sense of balance and spatial logic that coexists, sometimes uneasily, with painterly intuition. Painting functions as a counterweight to the noise of professional and contemporary life—a space where instinct precedes interpretation.

Working with a limited palette and treating each layer as a considered decision, he follows the paint rather than directing it. The result is work where texture and form arrive as discoveries. For JB, beauty and stillness tend to surface not through control, but through its release.
