Good evening!

We are excited to share that we've notified selected artists, and we will be installing on THIS SUNDAY, September 27th, between 3:00 pm and 5:00 pm. 

Please see the link below if you would like to volunteer. Ideally, we need three volunteers on Thursday from 6:15 pm to 7:00 pm—just before the Ch/Art monthly meeting —and up to six on Sunday for the uninstall of the first show, prep, and installation of the second show. Good morning!

Thank you all for a great first show at Barista! Incredibly, it will be just shy of eight weeks since Barista opened its doors, and more since your artwork has been seen from the street, creating much anticipation for its opening. While not everyone had sales, I would say it has been a huge success, which we hope to continue! 

Pick-up of ALL artwork will be this Sunday Sept. 27th between 4:00-5:00 pm at Barista. If you are unable to pick it up yourself, please ask one of your dear friends, fellow artists and/or family to help you retrieve it. Acknowledging that this is indeed a short notice and the latter simply does not work out, it will be stored in the Ch/Art office. You will receive an email later that week with instructions on how to retrieve your art.

While we do want to accommodate artists, in order to keep the uninstall/install effort super-efficient and timely for volunteers, we kindly request that you NOT ask for an exception to retrieve it earlier than 4:00. ;) Barista will close at 5:00 and we hope to be outta there by then to enjoy the rest of our Sunday!

Good evening and congratulations!  

(Apologies for the day-late notification -- we had a couple hiccups!)

You have been selected to be featured in the Second Barista Gallery Wall!  Please see the attached list of artworks. Selected artworks are highlighted in yellow. If you submitted two pieces, only the one highlighted in yellow has been selected. Please bring your selected piece to The Magnolia Room this Thursday between 6:15-7:00 pm.

I am re-sharing key "Submission Rules & Requirements" below. 

  • All submitted work must have a hanging wire and be ready for hanging at the time of drop-off. Works without wire will not be accepted this time.

  • All submitted artwork MUST be available for purchase by members of the public.

  • Artists are responsible for handling all purchase transactions. No commission or fee will be assessed by the coffee shop owner or by Ch/Art.

  • Each label will include your name, email address and the QR code you provided to Ch/Art using the QR submission form previously sent to all Ch/Art members; if you did not submit a QR code, your label will include a QR code that links to the artist pages on the Ch/Art website.

  • Artists are expected to respond to purchases and purchase inquiries within a 36-hour period. Within 36 hours of receiving payment, the artist must send a confirmation email to Ch/Art and complete a "swap-out request form" that will be posted to the member portal . Only then will the shop mark the item sold. 

  • Purchased art may only be removed on the swap-out date of October 25th or after the end of the show, currently projected to be December 3rd. Art shall ONLY be removed by the designated volunteer for that task or Kimoy Lallement. We will notify participating artists if these dates change for any reason.  

  • Artists must arrange delivery of artwork to buyers after either dates above; Barista staff cannot facilitate the delivery or pick-up of artwork from behind the counter. 

  • Failure to adhere to these policies may result in the artist being excluded from subsequent shows.

We are very excited to install this show and hope you understand that we need to stay within these parameters to keep everything running smoothly. Please double-check above before emailing with inquiries. Again, we cannot make exceptions to the above.

We will also be sending out a Volunteer sign-up for both Thursday 24th (receiving and storage in office) and Sunday 27th (uninstall/install) hopefully in the next day, so keep an eye out for that!

Good morning barista artists of Show #1!

As you would have seen, we have sent out an invite for the Second Show. Thank you so much for sharing your work with barista and the community, and congrats to those of you who have had a sale (or two!). 

If you are contacted for a sale from today (9/4/2026) onward, artwork will now be available to the buyer after the show is switched out on September 27th. We encourage you to arrange a day and time to meet your buyer independently from the take-down/install date to keep our volunteers focused on the "day-of". We will not be accommodating any swap-outs between now and then. In the words of a very wise person, "there are no art emergencies." 

I will send out an update of when you will be able to pick up your art, if not the end of install date September 27th (or if that date changes due to owner direction). 

To keep this opportunity sustainable to all Ch/Art members, we kindly request that you not ask for exceptions.

Dear Ch/Art Members,

Many of you have asked... and we are excited to invite you to our Second CALL FOR ARTISTS! As some of you may know, we have had 10+ sold pieces to date, and super happy for our artists who have had sales. Even for those that haven't had a sale (yet), it continues to be fun to bring your family and friends to see your art in a locally-owned coffee shop. 

When submitting, please read every line carefully, as we have made some important clarifications to drop-off, sales, etc. 

We look forward to your submissions to create another beautiful Gallery Wall at barista and for our Chevy Chase neighbors!

Dear Ch/Art Members,

I am thrilled to share that Barista is open and artwork is selling!  Congrats to those who have sold pieces in these first few days of the show and a huge thanks to Kimoy for leading this effort!

While we are excited by the eagerness of buyers to take home their pieces, this email serves as a reminder that show participants MAY NOT remove, or arrange to remove, art from the show without the prior approval of Ch/Art.

Our show manager, Kimoy, will arrange for periodic opportunities to swap out artwork to accommodate sales. Barista's owner has instructed us that no one else is authorized to remove art from the shop. This is standard art show policy and is intended to limit the burden on the Barista staff and to protect your work from theft.

Dear Ch/Art Members,

Thanks to everyone who submitted pieces for the Barista Art Wall's first show! We are excited that forty (40) member artists submitted a total of seventy-four (74) pieces! Forty-one (41) of the 74 submitted pieces were selected. As mentioned at the monthly meeting this May, you should have received an email notification if your piece(s) was/were accepted. If you did not receive an email this time around, we strongly encourage you to resubmit for the next show!

Drop off: Accepted pieces must be dropped off ready to hang with a hanging wire on Sunday, June 14th between 11:00 am - 1:00 pm at 5520 Connecticut Avenue. 

Check-in/Hanging: We are looking for volunteers to help receive pieces, organize, as well as hang. Since many pieces will be hung high up on the wall, those volunteering to hang work should be comfortable using a ladder.

Dear Ch/Art Members,

I'm writing to share some important updates on the Barista coffee shop.

1) 3D artists are now invited to apply! 

2) Pricing Information for 2D artists:

  • The Coffee House Manager at Politics & Prose recently shared some helpful insight on sales of work exhibited in their space: work priced in the $200-500 range tends to sell best, whereas items listed above $600 tend not to sell. 

3) Prints of original art are also welcome!

  • We are now accepting prints of original work as well as original pieces. 

  • If you submit a print for consideration, please indicate this on the form under "medium"

4) Submission modifications:

  • We have modified the form settings to allow for future submissions to be edited by the artist until the deadline. 

  • If you already submitted and wish to modify your submission, please send an email to erin.joshi@gmail.com.

5) Anti-theft hooks:

  • To help protect artwork on the gallery wall, Barista has invested in "theft-delaying" brackets that make it more difficult to remove the artwork. 

6) Can I submit two applications for the same show - one for 2d work and one for 3d work?  

  • Yes, you may submit for both.
