Allen Hirsh
Allen Hirsh, The Abstract Gardener, received his BS in biology from the California Institute of Technology in 1970, and received his Ph.D. in Plant Physiology at The University of Maryland in College Park in 1985. In the last 13 years, he has also crafted a new form of mathematical art. He is entirely self-taught, having no art education and having taught himself structured computer programming. He has been juried into 110 shows and won 20 awards. He has been favorably reviewed by East City Art and The Washington Post, invited to speak at The American Association for The Advancement of Science (AAAS) about art as a bridge between science and religion, featured in the Art the Science blog, Bethesda Magazine, and New York's The Forward. He is a member of Washington's second oldest art cooperative, The Foundry; The Chevy Chase Artists Group; The Capitol Hill Arts League; and The Maryland Federation of Art. He is a Master Artist at The Cape Cod Art Center in Barnstable, MA. He has sold numerous works in the Washington, DC metro area.
