Shannon Brownlee

Shannon Brownlee is a studio potter based in Washington, DC. She works in stoneware and porcelain and fires her ceramics in her wood-fueled kiln in Ashton, MD. Raised in Hawai’i, her work honors the islands’ polyglot culture and reflects the essential forms of the land and ocean. Brownlee is the daughter, sister, and granddaughter of artists, but she trained as a marine scientist and spent the early part of her career as an internationally-known journalist. Her pieces have appeared in numerous juried shows and she was a resident artist at Starworks Ceramics in Star, NC. Brownlee is represented by the Charlie Cummings Gallery and the School House Gallery at Starworks. She also shows at the Scope Gallery, in Alexandria, VA, and her work can be seen online at www.hinaleastudio.com.
